Today is your last opportunity
to see 'Noah' in action March 25, 2007
Motor City Youth Theatre and Grantland Street Players are the first in the United States to present "Noah the Musical," by the British team of Ian Gower and Rob Alderton. The show opened March 9 -- much to the excitement of Nancy Florkowski of Redford Township, artistic director for both theater companies -- and your last chance to see it is 2 p.m. today. The production tells the biblical story of Noah's ark. It features adults and older children and original songs. The show's creators have been tracking its run here. In an e-mail to the Free Press, Gower said, "All in it are having fun, as are those that are in the audience. Cheers from wet and windy England." Thom Elliott of Northville plays Noah; Jess Gray of Southgate plays Noah's wife. Andy Elliott of Livonia, Zack Elliott of Northville and Scott Crossman of Farmington Hills play their sons (the Elliotts are brothers). The storyteller is Patricia Tait of Canton. While the music is recorded, the singing is live. Song titles include "Sad Bad Days," "Animals Forlorn" and "Who We Are Tonight." Grantland Street Playhouse is at 2755 Grantland, west of Inkster Road, south of I-96, in Livonia. Tickets cost $10-$15. For information, call 313-535-8962. By Mary Lendzion |
